![]() Art was a Senior member of the Housing of Rural Development in Ottertail County, Member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church for many years, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Member of the Teamsters Union, Member of the Sebeka American Legion Post 456 for over 50 consecutive years. He was an avid cribbage and pinochle player, joke teller, and always full of one-liners. Art loved giving gifts, shopping for the biggest bargain, deer and coyote hunting, shooting pool, fishing, sucker spearing and smoking fish. ![]() Art is survived by his children: Rita Johnson (the late Daniel) Adams, Lake Oswego, OR Arthur “Butch” (Tamara) Schwartz Jr., Forest Lake, MN Kay (the late Timothy) Dieter, Keizer, OR Diana (Duane) Benson, Sebeka, MN Mary Schwartz, Golden Valley, MN Mike Schwartz, Sebeka, MN Julia Schwartz, Akeley, MN Eloise Schwartz Hoefs, Sebeka, MN Laura Schwartz, Sebeka MN Brother, Melvin (Marjorie) Schwartz, Sebeka, MN two sisters, Betty (the late Fred) Siirila, Sebeka, MN, Joan (LaVern) Salo, Menahga, MN, and Sister-In-Law, Olga Schwartz. Art and Clarice raised four sons and seven daughters. ![]() Art then worked for McGary Brothers Construction building highways and roads which later became Hardrives. In 1961, Art and Clarice bought a farm west of Sebeka in Ottertail County where they raised their family, farmed, grew rocks, and raised beef cattle. He was Honorably discharged with a Good Conduct Medal with 3 Loops and a National Service Medal. As a member of the 132nd/ 739th AC & W Squadron, Arthur ran the Officer’s and N.C.O. Hewitt on Apat the Presque Isle Air Force Base Chapel in Maine. While in the USAF, he was united in marriage to Clarice K. ![]() ![]() He later joined & served in the United States Air Force for 10 years. As a young man, Arthur attended country school in Bluffton where he “walked barefoot uphill both ways” to get there. Arthur was the third eldest son born to William Ludwig and Emma Ernestine (Kleinke) Schwartz in Bluffton, Minnesota on November 12, 1929. age 80, of New York Mills, MN, passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 17, 2010. ![]()
